Gaborone City Guide

Welcome to Gaborone (aka Gabs) the capital city of Botswana. Despite being in a developing country, Gabs is considered to be one of the fastest growing cities in the world ...kinda cool hey!.

It has all that a modern city has to offer.

From luxury hotels ,an international airport to world class shopping malls filled with a variety of restaurants ,clothing stores ,gift shops and cinemas.

Be sure to visit the River Walk and Game City malls for a great shopping experience.

If you hate road traffic then try to avoid driving in the mornings and late afternoons.

If you however find yourself stuck in traffic simply tune in to one of our local radio stations to keep yourself entertained.

Gabs has a variety of entertainment options to offer. Depending on your interest you can choose from the following:

  • A safari in one of the 2 game reserves
    1. The Gaborone Game Reserve - Ideal for antelope and bird viewing
    2. Mokolodi Nature Reserve - Some of the animals you will see include
      • Elephants
      • White rhino
      • Cheetah
      • Leopard
      • Impala
      • Giraffe
      • Zebra
      ...........and much more!

  • Visit the Lion Park (perfect for a lion safari!....)
  • Check out the several night clubs in the city (for you party animals!)
  • Boating in the dam
  • Visit the National Museum
  • Go golfing
  • A fun family day a the amusement park
  • Attend the Blues festival which is hosted annually

.....and that's just a tip of the iceberg!

Unlike the other tourism hubs in Botswana, Gabs is more of a business tourism center.

So don't be surprised to see the Gabs hotels filled with business people from all corners of the world attending the many business conferences and events that the city hosts annually.

I have no doubt that you are going to enjoy your stay in Gabs. Even if its just for a day or two....
